SakéOne Momokawa Organic Creamy Nigori Junmai SakeSakéOne Momokawa Organic Creamy Nigori Junmai Sake (16.0% alcohol by folume) is a Nigori Sake which means that it is filtered coarsely to allow particles and sediments through to make a creamy, cloudy beverage. They recommend giving the bottle a good shake before pouring. Junmai Sake means that it is made with rice, water, koji mold, and yeast and has no added alcohol. Although not stated on the lable, this rice is milled to 58% of its original size and meets the rice milling criteria for Ginjo sake (60% of the rice remaining). Momokawa Organic Creamy Nigori Junmai Sake ios made with organic California Calrose rice and is twice pasteurized. The Sake is organic, gluten free, sulfite free and Kosher and vegan. The sake has a spicy, floral, citrus aroma with traces of nuts and anise. The fragrance is medium plus. It looks like coconut milk or rice milk and has some small sand sized particles of rice floating about. the sake is richly complex with a delicate earthiness and a moderate presence. Citrus, fruit, rice, rice pudding and spice lead the flavors. It is semisweet blanced by a soft, tart acidity. The creamy rice flavors soften both the tartness and the alcohol. The acid is mid-range. This is a very smooth, silky drink with big alcohol that is also clean and smooth with a moderately long tail. The alcohol is mildly warming but not hot or harsh. You want to drink this sake if you are having a spicy noodle bowl, crab, poultry, chocolate or something spicy. SakéOne Momokawa Organic Creamy Nigori Junmai Sake is a quality Nigori sake. I thorougly enjoyed this and rate it 88.
