Wild Mind Golden Ho/Rye/Zon (6.8% alcohol by volume) is fermented with native wild yeasts in Pinot Noir barrels from Sonoma County. The scent is not huge but it is layered and complex weaving a fabric of stone fruit, spice and light funk. It pours bright gold permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles and hosting a brief 1/2" white cap. It has a mild funky taste laced with apricot, fruit and spice. It is bone-dry with some oaky tannins on the finish, a shot of peppery rye flavor and a trace of vanilla. The tartness is Granny Smith apple level. The body is medium light and the carbonation is medium. The alcohol is mild and clean. The tartness, mild funk, alcohol, carbonation and fruit flavors all work very well together making for an elegant, refreshing drink. I rate it 85.
