Waldmann Brewery Dunkel (5.4% alcohol by volume) is a Munich Dunkel and the crowler was filled two weeks ago. A big nutty malty aroma drifts off the glass and is readily noticeable an arm's length from the glass. The malt aromas are medium plus and are mostly mildly toasted malt with no caramel notes and just a hint of chocolate. There are no harsh or burnt toast aromas. The hop aromas are low and the fermentation aromas are clean. It pours bright dark chestnut brown under a creamy 2" light tan cap with good retention. Mildly sweet nutty malt flavors lead supported by mild toast and bread crust and a trace of chocolate. Hop bitterness is low but just enough to soften the sweetness. The beer has a rich, creamy texture and a medium full body. This dunkel is a little bigger and richer in flavor than many but it is a beer that those who appreciate big, flavorful beers will drink all night. When I spot a crowler of Waldmann Dunkel in the cooler at my beer store, I will pick at least one up. I rate it 85
