Under Pressure Brewing Company
Beerwitched English IPA
Under Pressure Brewing Company Beerwitched English IPA (6.3% alcohol by volume and 83 International Bittering Units) is made from 5 different kinds of hops and biscuit and caramel malts. My can was packaged 4 days ago. Medium hop aromas lead with fruit, a trace of resin and dank pine. The malt shows up with rich clean biscuit aromas and a trace of caramel. The fermentation character is clean with light fruit notes. It pours brilliant copper amber with a 3" beige cap with good retention. A big fruity palate leads and its intensity pleasantly surprises after the nose. Strong malt flavors of biscuit and caramel support but do not overwhelm the hops. A judicious dose of fruity bitter has a slight tea like astringent note and gives the flavors have a tea like character that takes me back to my favorite British pubs. Medium hop flavors lead closely followed by the rich malt. The bitterness is medium high but well balanced.
The beer has a medium body and carbonation. This is a very drinkable IPA with a rich, clean flavor profile, pleasant hoppy aftertaste, and a bitterness that is big, but not overwhelming. Nothing is overdone – you can repeat this all night. This is one of the best and biggest flavored English IPAs I have had in a very long time. I rate it 89.
