Summit Extra Pale Ale

Summit Brewing Company Summit Extra Pale AleSummit Brewing Company Summit Extra Pale Ale (5.3% alcohol by volume) is an English Strong Bitter. It starts with nice biscuit and carmel aromas but then I start getting a garlicy onion aroma from the hops that is a little off-putting. I have had this before and not noticed this. It pours bright gold amber from a 22 ounce bottle into a Libbey craft pub glass producing a moderately persistent 1” off-white foam cap. The flavors start with bread crumb and light caramel followed by stone fruit, herbs, and earthiness leading to a moderate hop bitterness in the finish. More orange flavors come through as it warms. It is creamy and very effervescent with a medium body. I don’t know where the onion garlic aromas came from but overlooking that, the beer drinks well and has nice flavor. I rate it 81.
