Hop Bullet Double IPA

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Hop Bullet Double IPASierra Nevada Brewing Company Hop Bullet Double IPA (8.0% alcohol by volume, 60 International Bittering Units) is a Double IPA. It uses Magnum hops as bittering hops and uses Centennial, Cascade, Chinook, Magnum, and Crystal hops as finishing hops. The grain bill includes Two-row Pale, Wheat, Dextrine, Chocolate, and Acidulated malts. Big resiny, citrusy hop aromas rise from the glass with traces of fresh mowed grass, dank, pine, onion, light bread crumb and a trace of sulfur. Hop aromas are medium high, malt aromas are medium. It pours bright gold with a slight haze under a 1" lacy and sticky ecru cap with a very fine bead and good retention. Streams of bubbles rise rapidly. A slight sweetness starts the flavor joined by citrus, citrus rind, fruit, resin, some biscuit, and a big, assertive bitterness. It starts drying out by the finish with a slighly astringent note and ends bone dry. Hop flavors are high, malt flavors are medium minus and yeast flavors are medium low to low. Alcohol flavors are medium high and help balance the hop bitterness. The beer has a very creamy, airy texture and a medium body. The alcohol is mildly warming. This big beer packs a lot of flavor for the amount of alcohol making it a delight to drink. I rate it 85.
