Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Sidecar Orange IPA (6.8% alcohol by volume) is an IPA brewed with orange peel and my bottle was packaged 6 weeks ago. Orange peel joins a predominantly citrus aroma that receives some support from light biscuit. It pours brilliant gold permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 2" off-white cap with fair to good retention. A solid malt backbone supports assertive hop citrus lightly seasoned by orange peel. It finishes with a pleasant citrus rind bitterness with orange highlights that lingers. A mile honey sweetness brings out the orange peel and the malt while leaving enough room for the hop flavors to shine. The texture is creamy and the body and carbonation are medium. The malty biscuit flavors in the background make this flavorful, refreshing beer work. I rate it 80.
