Glütiny Pale Ale
New Belgium Brewing brews Glütiny Pale Ale with grains "crafted to remove gluten." Gluten free beer is made with grains that do not contain gluten such as sorghum, rice, corn and millet. With this beer New Belgium starts with malted barley (which contains gluten) and uses an enzyme that breaks the gluten proteins down into small little harmless bits. New Belgium has used a test to show that the gluten content in Glütiny is below20 parts per million but the Food and Drug Administration has not yet approved any test for determining the glutin content of fermented beverages.
New Belgium Glütiny Pale Ale (6.0% alcohol by volume) is an American Style Pale Ale with light bread crust, light caramel, light fruit, tangerine and citrus aromas. It pours brilliant copper amber permeated with streams of bubbles rising moderately fast under a 1.5" foam cap with good retention. A lightly sweet start with fruit and biscuit flavors lead to a drying, slightly astringent finish. The bitterness is moderately assertive. The beer is well balanced with medium Malt and hop flavors and medium hop bitterenss. This is an easy to drink gluten-reduced beer. I rate Glütiny Pale Ale 81.
