New Grist Ginger Style Ale

Lakefront Brewery New Grist Ginger Style AleLakefront Brewery New Grist Ginger Style Ale (4.7% alcohol by volume) is a gluten-free beer brewed with fresh ginger based on Lakefront's New Grist Pilsner. New Grist Pilsner is brewed with sorghum and rice instead of barley. Ginger is the dominant aroma supported by malted sorghum which has grain and a faint earthy, wood aroma. It pours brilliant straw with rapidly rising bubbles under a moderate white cap with fair retention. It starts with a prickle on the tongue, light sweetness, mild ginger leading to a burst of ginger on the finish with a little ginger heat that grows as you drink the beer. The body is light and the carbonation is medium high. The ginger manages the sorghum flavors, masks any harshness or sharpness and lends a pleasant heat and spicy flavor. This is a decent gluten-free alternative.
