JP's A Capella Gluten Free Pale Ale
James Page Brewing Company JP's A Capella Gluten Free Pale Ale (5.5% alcohol by volume) is a gluten-free American Pale Ale brewed with sorghum. I picked it up off the singles' shelf at Total Wine. It 6 weeks old and has a best by date 6 weeks in the future. The aroma is low with lemon, a slight earthiness, some grain and faint fruit. It pours murky straw under a 1" frothy white foam with pour retention. The palate is a train wreck. It starts lightly tart with some fruit, light orange, then an acrid sorghum harshness similar to burnt Bakelite emerges that kills the beer and leaves a harsh bitter aftertaste that is hard to get off the tongue. The beer has a medium body and carbonation. This is a beer with little or no redeeming value that leaves you wondering why anyone would put their name on the can. I rate it 35 and do not recommend it for any purpose.
