Sif’s Locks Polish-Style Oak Smoked Session Ale
Hammerheart Brewing Sif’s Locks Polish-Style Oak Smoked Session Ale (3.7% alcohol by volume) is one of those beers you have to buy because few other breweries are making this kind of beer. The beer is fresh, canned less than 2 weeks ago. It has a mild lightly smoky aroma with medium malts and medium low bread crumb. Hop aromas are low and the fermentation aroma is low. It pours brilliant gold under a 3” lacy white cap with good retention. The beer is creamy and dry with medium low smoke, some oak notes, medium bitter that lingerings, and some light fruit notes. The malt is medium low, nearly neutral, and wheaty with some bread crumb. It has a touch of candy on the finish.
The beer is creamy, medium bodied I love the mouth feel and the dryness, I love the way it leaves you mouth feel. There is a slight astringent note from the oak smoke, but it is very nice. This is a session you will want to drink all night because of its low alcohol, incredible balance, unique flavors, rich aftertaste and drinkability. It is one of the most flavorful and drinkable low alcohol beers i have found. I rate it 85.
