Funkwerks Saison

Funkwerks SaisonFunkwerks Saison (6.8% alcohol by volume) is a standard strength, pale Saison. My bottle has a best by date 6 weeks from now. It has rich fruit aromas, tropical fruit, melon, a trace of spice and a hint of wet wool in the backgound. Streams of rapidly rising bubbles permeate a hazy gold pour under a thin white cap with fair retention. Mildly sweet fruit, tropical fruit, melon and some peppery saison yeast character lead to an assertive bitter fruit finish with a dash of astringent drying. Well developed fruit flavors from the yeast work very well with the hop bitterness and the light flavors from the malt. The beer is medium light and crisp with above average carbonation. This is a flavorful, refreshing beer to grab when you want something classy and elegant to drink. I rate it 85.
