Damm S. A. Estrella Damm DauraDamm S. A. Estrella Damm Daura (5.4% alcohol by volume) is a gluten reduced International Pale Lager. The brewer is from Barcelona, Spain and promotes the beer as the world’s best gluten free beer, backed by a dozen or so awards in international competition. The beer has a gluten content below 3 parts per million (ppm) but it is brewed with barley. According to the brewer, products with a gluten content below 20 ppm are suitable for people with celiac disease. Daura pours brilliant straw under a finely bubbled, bone white foam cap that slowly dissipates to a thick film. It offers a faint graham cracker nose with a touch of sweetness. A little grain to graham cracker with a light sweetness that fades to a crisp, dry finish rolls through your mouth. A very fine soft carbonation supports Daura’s medium-light body, giving it a very rich, creamy texture.  I enjoy the texture. Daura does not have the fizzy carbonic acid bite found in many light lagers and has just enough hop bitterness on the end to provide balance. I rate this very drinkable gluten reduced beer 75.
