Brasseurs Sans Gluten
Glutenberg India Pale Ale
Brasseurs Sans Gluten Glutenberg India Pale Ale (5.5% alcohol by volume, 76 International Bittering Units) is a gluten-free India Pale Ale brewed with millet, buckwheat, corn, black rice, and corn maltodextrin. It smells of grains and light earthiness. There is a corn and wild rice note with some spicy hop aromas. It pours brilliant gold with rapidly rising bubbles refreshing a 3/4" white foam collar with fair retention. The flavors start with mildly sweet fruit, dark sugar and grains and finish dryer with an assertive bitterness that has a vague tea-like flavor. At least three different grain flavors including sweet corn and nutty wild rice add interest and complexity. The body is light to medium light and the carbonation is medium high. It lacks the texture found in barley and wheat based beers but the maltodextrine form the corn helps give the beer a fuller texture. This is a full flavored gluten-free beer that can compete with the gluten-reduced beers. I rate it 80.
