The Sixth Glass Quadrupel Ale

Boulevard Brewing Company The Sixth Glass Quadrupel AleMy bottle of Boulevard Brewing Company The Sixth Glass Quadrupel Ale (10.50% alcohol by volume, 22 International bittering Units) has a best by date a year and 9 months from now. It smells like fruit and spice with a mix of large pitted fruit, dried fruit, fig and dates, banana, cinnamon, dark moist caramel cake and alcohol. The Sixth Glass pours deep rich chestnut with a slight haze with a pillowy, lacy 1" off-white foam cap that mounds up over the rim of the glass and has good retention. The palate melds fruit, spice and malt. A brown sugar to treacle undercurrent provides sweetness. Above it ride large pitted fruit, a faint citrus, dark raisins and a hint of fig, banana, spice, black pepper, alcohol and a touch of chocolate and caramel. The hops and yeast work together to provide earthy and wood flavors and a mild bitterness works with the yeast flavors to keep the sweetness moderate. The Sixth Glass has a medium body - much lighter than it tastes - with above average carbonation. It is very creamy with mild warming. This is a very complex and layered Belgian Dark Strong Ale and you notice something new with each sip. Unfortunately, too soon it is gone. I rate it 95
