The Calling IPA India Pale Ale
My bottle of Boulevard Brewing Company The Calling IPA India Pale Ale (8.5% alcohol by volume) is two months old and and has a best by date three months from now. Rapidly rising bubbles fill a slightly hazy gold pour under a thin off-white cap. It has a citrusy, melony nose with some fruit and light background bread crumb and spice. Hop and malt aromas are medium. The Calling is very creamy on the tongue. Melon, tropical fruit and bread crumb flavors lead the attack quickly followed by a big, assertive bitter melon flavor. A mild fruit and malt sweetness and soft alcohol flavors knock off the rough edges. The Calling has a medium body, medium high carbonation and a mild alcohol warming. This is a big, well balanced Imperial IPA. I rate it 87.
