Chess Club Blond Ale With Orange Zest

BlackStack Chess Club Blond Ale With Orange ZestBlackStack Chess Club Blond Ale With Orange Zest at 5.5% alcohol by volume has enough alcohol to satisfy your urge for a beer while it is low enough to allow chess playing should you so desire. My crowler was packaged 2 weeks ago. A medium to medium low orange zest scent leads the aroma. Low hop aromas, medium low sweet, light bready malt aroma and medium low fermentation character complete the aromas. It pours clear yellow with a light haze and a medium white cap with fair retention.
The flavors start citrusy - primarily orange and it has a moderate hop bitterness that has a pithy citrus peel character shaped by a light bready malty sweetness. There are no caramel notes, a hint of fruity esters, trace citrusy hop flavor. The bitterness lingers into the medium dry finish. The balance tilts slightly to the malt. A medium light body has medium plus carbonation. This refreshing, thirst quenching beer has a good dose of character and flavor. Its a good beer for sitting in the shade reading a book, playing cards or playing chess. I rate it 80
