Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan
Weihenstephaner Vitus*
Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan Weihenstephaner Vitus (7.7% alcohol by volume, 17 International Bittering Units) is a pale weizenbock. It has a mild wheat, moderate banana, clove and spice aroma. There are light dried fruit notes and a hint of smoke in the backgound. It is hazy amber in the glass under a tight 2.5" off-white cap with a very fine bead. Streams of bubbles rise moderately fast. Big banana flavors lead supported by traces of light dried fruit seasoned by moderate levels of clove, traces of fruit and a hint of tobacco. There is a hint of brown sugar and almost not hop presence. It is very creamy and luscious with a full body and medium high carbonation. This beer is like a spicy banana bread in a glass. It is a true classic and regularly wins awards in national and international competions. I rate it 95.
