Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan
Weihenstephaner Pilsner
Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan Weihenstephaner Pilsner (5.1% alcohol by volume) releases floral, spicy hop, light grain and a hint of DMS (dimethylsulfide - sulfury canned corn) aromas upon removing the cap. The malt character is low. It pours brilliant light gold with streams of bubbles rapidly rising to join a lacy 1.5" white cap that takes 3 minutes to reduce its size by 1/3. The beer starts creamy with a moderately low sweet malt character and high to medium high hop bitterness. Other than the light DMS the fermentation character is clean. It starts medium dry and ends dry with a lingering bitter finish. The body is medium light and the carbonation is medium high. This is a very flavorful, light and refreshing beer. I rate it 92.
