Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan
Weihenstephaner Festbier*
Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan Weihenstephaner Festbier (5.8% alcohol by volume) has a doughy, malty, grainy nose. Malt aromas are moderate, toasty aromas are low and floral, spicy hops are medium low. There are no strong toast, biscuit or caramel aromas. It pours brilliant light gold producing a 1.5" foam cap that takes a full 5 minutes to reduce to a thick, lacy film. Steady stream of bubbles rise to the top of the glass. The flavors start with medium light doughy malt and a soft sweetness quickly balanced with a medium low bitterness and seasoned with medium low spicy floral hops. The beer has a clean fermentation character with very slight toasty aspects. A very smooth and creamy medium body with medium carbonation make this very easy to drink. I rate it 85.
