Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel*
I have a fresh bottle of Ayinger Privatbrauerei Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel (5.0% alcohol by volume) and the cap releases with a hiss and emits the aromas of light malty sweetness, bread crust, spice, and traces of nuts. It pours brilliant chestnut under a 2" off-white sticky foam cap with good retention. The cap provides stupendous lace, marking each drink. Munich malts dominate the tongue with a light sweetness and a suggestion of cola or perhaps Dr. Pepper. It ends with a gentle, spicy bitterness and lingering malt flavors. The beer is clean and smooth with no burnt or roast flavors. The body is medium and the carbonation is medium to medium high. This is a very flavorful, easy to drink beer. I rate it 90.
