Fruit Beer - Page 1
The fruit beer category uses a culinary definition of fruit rather than a botanical one. It includes pome fruit (aplles and pears), stone fruit (such as cherries, peaches and plums), berries, currants, citrus, tropical fruit, and dried fruit. Foods that are technically fruits but are cooked and eaten like herbs, spices or vegetables are not consider fruits.
In this category the brewer can use any beer style as a base beer and add any combinaiton of fruit. The individual fruits should be recognizable but the beverage should still be a beer. The statistics for the beer (alcohol by volume, International Bittering Units, volumes of CO2) will depend on the base style.
Cheese: Creamy cheeses
Dessert: Vanilla ice cream
Bread: Sourdough bread
Other: Salads, fruit to match fruit added to beer.
When drinking fruit beer I either get a glass appropriate for the base style or I grab a Libbey Tulip glass.
