Brewer's Tears

Cold Spring Brewing Company Brewer's TearsCold Spring Brewing Company Brewer's Tears (4.7% alcohol by volume) is a pre-prohibition lager. Pre-prohibition lagers are bitterer and more robust than modern industrial adjunct lagers. Brewer's Tears smells of cracker, bread dough, some fruit, a trace of scrambled eggs, and a hint of corn. It pours beautiful brilliant gold permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 3" white foam cap with fair to good retention. The palate is malty and fruity with hints of apple and pear, cracker, bread dough and a bitter hop accent on the finish. The bitterness lingers and dries things out. Fruit flavors are medium to medium high, hop bitterness is medium and malt flavors are medium to medium low. The body and carbonation are medium. This beer is very drinkable and has a lot of flavor - almost as much yeast flavor as a keller beer. I rate it 70
