Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat NV
Duvel Tripel Hop 2017 Citra
My Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat NV Duvel Tripel Hop 2017 Citra (9.5% alcohol by volume) was bottled 2 months ago and according to the brewery is good for a year. An initial aroma earthy, herbal citrus aroma becomes spicier with tropical fruit interwoven with a light dank scent and a hint of tobacco as the beer warms. It drops hazy gold permeated by streams of very fine bubbles racing to the surface to support a 3" white blanket of foam that dissipates slowly and leaves a stiff mound. Tropical fruit leads the flavor joined by a vague hint of tobacco and yeasty stone fruit notes. It ends very dry with a pity, zesty bitterness and a slight astringent touch. The body is medium minus and the carbonation is above average and very fine and soft producing a very creamy palate. The interplay between the Belgian yeast and hop fruit flavors combined by the Belgian yeast texture and the assertive, pithy bitterness make this a very drinkable and enjoyable beer. I rate it 85.
